can you help me solve this for y ? x=(8y+2)/(9y-7)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[x=\frac{8y+2}{9y-7}\] multiply both sides by \(9y-7\) to get \[x(9y-7)=8y+2\] distribute on the left get \[9xy-7x=8y+2\] put the \(y\) terms on the left, everything else on the right get \[9xy-8y=7x+2\] factor out the \(y\) on the left get \[(9x-8)y=7x+2\] divide both sides by \(9x-8\) to get \[y=\frac{7x+2}{9x-8}\]

i assume you were looking for the inverse function in any case all steps are there, let me know if any is not clear

yes thank you for your reply :)
