Factor 6x^2-54

OpenStudy (allank):

I'd start by factoring out 6.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How? Please know I don't know how to do this at all. I only know how to factor perfect squares, but i've never seen something like this before.

OpenStudy (allank):

6x^2-54 = 6(x^2-9) Right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh so you're factoring common factors? DUH!!!! lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

After that, you factor x^2-9 because it's a perfect square?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6(x+3)(x-3)

OpenStudy (allank):

Very correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks. I just brainfarted
