OpenStudy (jim766):
do you know what slope intercept form is?
OpenStudy (jim766):
come on you do.... y = mx + b ?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i knew it had something to do with m
OpenStudy (jim766):
yes it does..... y = mx + b is the formual for a line
the m stands for the slope
the b stands for the y intercept
OpenStudy (jim766):
to answer this question all you have to do is plug in what they gave you...

OpenStudy (jim766):
what is the slope?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
is m the slope?
OpenStudy (jim766):
right
OpenStudy (anonymous):
-1=-5x+b?
OpenStudy (jim766):
the -5 is in the right place....
but remember that the b is the y intercept.....
in this problem the y will not change
y = -5x +

OpenStudy (jim766):
what is the y intercept?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
-1
OpenStudy (jim766):
so put that where the b was
y = -5x + -1
OpenStudy (anonymous):
okay thank you
OpenStudy (jim766):
now I would not leave it that way....

oh
OpenStudy (jim766):
you do not want to have two signs.... +- is the same as subtract
so make it y = -5x -1
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Okay
