OpenStudy (cedric):

-4y + 17 less than or equal to 29 Part 1: Solve the inequality above. Part 2: Describe the graph of the solution.

hero (hero):

And what exactly is the difficulty with solving this? What step are you stuck on?

OpenStudy (cedric):

solvong the inequality

hartnn (hartnn):

solving the inequality for y means keeping y on one side of equation to find its value....in -4y+17<=29 for that you have to shift 17 on other side, can u tell me how can u do that?

hartnn (hartnn):

@cedric

OpenStudy (cedric):

uhm by subtracting -4 on each side?

hartnn (hartnn):

by subtracting -17 on both sides,so that only -4y remains on left hand side of equation..

OpenStudy (cedric):

ohhh

OpenStudy (cedric):

ok soo

hartnn (hartnn):

so u get -4y<=12(29-17) now how will u find y? from -4y<=12 any idea?

OpenStudy (cedric):

dividing 4 by 12 and get 3?

hartnn (hartnn):

then u get -y<=3 or y>=-3 because sign flips if we divide by negative number....ok till now?
