Solve for x and y: 2x+2.5=4000 4x+1y=4800 1x+0.75y=1500

OpenStudy (anonymous):

use the first equation to solve for x. insert that value of x into the second and third equations. If the y values are not the same for equations 2 and 3, the system is inconsistent.

Well, you can also solve by graphing or using matrices.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok but in matrices how would the equations be set up?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oof, it's been a while. I think the first matrix needs to be a 3 by 3. The first column is your coefficients for x, second column is the coefficients for y and the third column can be your constants. The other matrix needs to be 3 by 1 Then you do the A inverse B to find your solutions. Matrix A 2 0 2.5 4 1 0 1 .75 0 Matrix B 4000 4800 1500
