Carlos and his friends are thinking about taking a cab home. The Cost for the cab ride is $1.50 per mile Question: Write a formula that will help Carlos Determine how much each friend will have to pay for the cab ride. x=number of miles traveled y=number of friends in the cab z=cost of each friend

OpenStudy (anonymous):

may be y*z=1,5x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that suppose to be a comma or *?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mul

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mul?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mul = * ^^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you sure im takin a test?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im here :DD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k gimme a sec :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so we're looking for z: the cost of each friend so so far our equation looks like \[z=\]so we know the total cost is the number of miles times the cost per mile, so lets add that\[z=1.5x\]but this total cost needs to be divided equally among all the friends, which is represented by y: number of friends in cab, so lets add that\[z={1.5x\over y}\]

is yummy makin any sense to ya? :)

yes!
