so we're looking for z: the cost of each friend so so far our equation looks like \[z=\]so we know the total cost is the number of miles times the cost per mile, so lets add that\[z=1.5x\]but this total cost needs to be divided equally among all the friends, which is represented by y: number of friends in cab, so lets add that\[z={1.5x\over y}\]
