Write the equation of the vertical line passing through the point (3, 1).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I forgot the formula...

hero (hero):

Formula for a vertical line?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Isn't there a formula to find the vertical line passing through a point.

hero (hero):

Not really

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol. ok, let me try it again

hero (hero):

There is an equation that represents the line though. But there's no "formula" that I know of that is used to figure it out.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Right. I think I was getting slope-intercept form confused with how to solve this. How do I solve this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no dude lol... i was confused when you said 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you mean x = 3?

hero (hero):

You just simplify visualize the fact that the line goes through the point (3,1) but it also goes through every point where x = 3. Therefore the equation of that line is x = 3

hero (hero):

Ugh, what is wrong with me today

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I see now! Thanks so much though. " You're my Hero!" lol
