Please help! I need to FOIL (4x + 3y) (4x - 3y)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok which ones are first?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4x to the second set of parenthesis?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4x times 4x equals 16x^2 (16x squared - little two after the x) 4x times 3y equals 12xy -3y times 4x equals -12xy -3y times 3y equals -9y^2 (-9y squared - little two after the y) So you get 16x^2 + 12xy - 12xy - 9y^2 Now you combine like terms... Which means +12xy combined with -12xy equals zero. So you are left with 16x^2 - 9y^2. Let me know if you have any problems figuring out what I'm saying! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

F=4x and 4x O=4x and 2 I=6 and x L=6 and 2 :)

I thought you already knew how to do FOIL.
