The electromagnet in a galvanometer A. increases the voltage in a circuit. B. moves a pointer along a numbered scale in response to a current. C. induces an electric current. D. increases the current in a circuit.
basically, electromagnetic coil reduces damping and the field in the electromagnetic coil interacts with the field of current passing through the galvanometer and hence it helps in moving a pointer ...(B)
A galvanometer consists of two permanent magnets which surround an electromagnet (coil). The coil itself is attached to a pointer and when current passes through the coil, a magnetic field is produced which interacts with the field of the permanent magnets. This in turn causes the coil and pointer to deflect proportionally to the current.
