Can consciousnesses be measured through the scanning of neurons firing off when a person thinks or dreams?

I tend to think of consciousness as being cognitively aware of one's surroundings, but the very word 'consciousness' is actually vague, in a way.  It seems like each individual has his or her own perspective on what that word means, and it seems quite personally meaningful to each person.  That's my understanding of it, anyway.

no-it is not possible.The two most widely accepted altered states  of consciousness are sleep and dreaming.

Might be possible in the future. There is no technology to measure the tremendous speed of neurons & also it involves different Neuro transmitters. Scientists are delved into finding a  way to explore the unconscious mind.  


We have to go deep through neuroscience to find answers for intriguing questions.
