What is the graph of the function f(x) = f(x)=-x^2-9x-20/x+4 http://learn.flvs.net/webdav/assessment_images/educator_algebra2_v10/07_h06g_13.gif http://learn.flvs.net/webdav/assessment_images/educator_algebra2_v10/07_h06g_14.gif http://learn.flvs.net/webdav/assessment_images/educator_algebra2_v10/07_h06g_15.gif http://learn.flvs.net/webdav/assessment_images/educator_algebra2_v10/07_h06g_16.gif

OpenStudy (mathmate):

When x+4=0, the function is undefined. This way, you eliminate two graphs. When x+4 !=0, then f(x)=-x^2-9x-20/x+4=-(x+4)(x+5)/(x+4)=-(x+5) This way, you can eliminate two graphs. Double check that the remaining graph is the correct one.

OpenStudy (rayford):

so which one would you say is correct? i chose the 3rd one

OpenStudy (mathmate):

You have the graph with the correct slope and intercept. However, graph #3 has the discontinuity at x=4 while the discontinuity of the function is at x+4=0, or x=-4. I am sure your next choice will be the good one.

OpenStudy (rayford):

thank you so much...

OpenStudy (mathmate):

You're welcome! :)
