Michael can wash and detail his car in 3 hours, and Jeanne can wash and detail her car in 5 hours. If they work together, how long will it take them to wash and detail both cars?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

These are the answers: 3 5/8 hour 3 3/4 hour 3 5/7 hour 4 hour

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Whic his the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So is it A B C or D. ..?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

15/8 ... That isnt one of the choices

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A B C OR D does not consist of that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in one hour, michael can wash and detail 1/3 of the car, whereas jeanne only does 1/5 of the car. add them up and its 8/15. 1/8/15=15/8 the answer is 15/8 hours

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i do. It is 2 1/8 but that isnt one of the answers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The choices are 3 5/8 hour 3 3/4 hour 3 5/7 hour 4 hour

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my bad 1 1/8 hr

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1 7/8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

these r the choices : 3 5/8 hour 3 3/4 hour 3 5/7 hour 4 hour

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Man.. i see.. dangg it. Thank you Hero and Coolmath977

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cuz the fastest guy takes 3 hrs on his own

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So i dont know what to pick?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and tell your teachher

OpenStudy (anonymous):

opps 30/8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because they need to wash and detail both cars means they need to wash and detail 2 cars

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So then the answer is D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think I did @Hero

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So would the answer be D?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is sure that they will take more than 3 hours

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cause they need to wash and detail both cars

OpenStudy (kaederfds):

3 3/4 hour

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Fine.... I may be wrong...... where am I wrong?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh right@Hero they need to detail two cars. So one car should be 1 7/8 and two cars would be 3 3/4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ya thats the right answer @Kaederfds

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If its one car it would be 1 7/8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Hero read the question very very very carefully

OpenStudy (anonymous):

PLZ

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in the end they mentioned "both cars"

OpenStudy (anonymous):
