(LC)Who took a diplomatic approach towards Italian unification? Cavour Mazzini von Metternich Garibaldi

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Either Mazzini or Cavour could technically be the answer, but Cavour takes the cake here. Garibaldi was the face of the revolting army, and von metternich has nothing to really do with the Italian unification process. Mazzini was liberal, and did support the early ideas of an EU (then the U.S. of Europe) but he sided with Garibaldi much of the time in attempting to sieze Italy by force. Cavour did much for Piedmont to expand by diplomatic means. By the time Italy unified, he was the face of reason among the Risorgimento greats.
