Create your own unique quadratic equation in the form y = ax2 + bx + c. Use complete sentences and show all work to determine the following: Does the graph open up or down? How do you know? Explain whether the graph has a maximum or minimum point. Find the vertex and x-intercepts of the graph.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

variable a will determine if the x^2 graph goes up or down, if it's positive it will go up if negative, down.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to find the x-intercepts of the graph you would have to foil out the equation and set each ( ) to zero, there may be one or two x-intercepts depending on the equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know that and I also know about the maximum or minimum point. I also know how to find the vertex. I need help creating a quadratic equation. Thanks for the x-intercept part.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You are welcome! haha for creating a quadratic equation just make something like (x+5)^2 and simplify it to x^2+10x+25

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so in my example above^^^ what would the x-intercept be? and how many would be there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

10 would be the x intercept ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you make x+5=0, so x=?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

negative 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Close -.-

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha good job

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks, lol.

can i get a medal? =)
