Two end points of a line segment are (-12, -2) and (-6, -10). What are the coordinates of the point on the line through which its bisector passes? (-18, -12) (-9, -6) (-7, -8) (-11, -4)

hero (hero):

Hint: Find the midpoint of both sets of coordinates.

I'm really not good with this part of geometry :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you eliminate some for me?

Parth (parthkohli):

Long story short, the coordinates of the midpoint are the averages(means) of the corresponding coordinates.

Parth (parthkohli):

\[\text{midpoint of }(a,b)(x,y)\implies (\text{mean}(a,x),\text{mean}(b,y)) \]

Sorry, but I'm still really confused.. I can't visually picture this.
