Tiara bought a circular shaped cake with an area of 64 square inches. The shaded portion represents the chocolate flavored portion of the cake and the white square portion represents the vanilla flavored portion of the cake. Tiara cuts out a piece of chocolate cake for herself and a piece of vanilla cake for Meg, as shown below. How much more cake did Meg get than Tiara? Use π = 3.14. 4.4 in2 10.2 in2 6.8 in2 12.2 in2

hartnn (hartnn):

can u find the radius of cake?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

umm no can yu help.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first find the radius of the circle r. area of a circle is equal to: \[A=\pi*r ^{2}\] so r=sqrt(64/Pi)=4.5 aproximatly This will be half of a diagonal of the square. So square side is, by pithagoras theorem: \[\sqrt{4.5^{2}+4.5^{2}}=\sqrt{40,5}=6,4\] so square area ia 6,4*6,4=40.96 the difference will be 64-40.96=23.04 now take 1/4 of this difference, which is = 5.76

thats nt one of the options 4.4 in2 10.2 in2 6.8 in2 12.2 in2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sry, take 1/4 of square area and rest from it 5.76 and you get 4.4

thanks
