Choose the slope-intercept equation of the line that passes through the point shown and is perpendicular to the line shown

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y = -three halvesx y = three halvesx - 6 y = -two thirdsx - 5 thirds y = two thirdsx - 13 thirds

When two lines are perpendicular, their slopes are negative reciprocals (eg, 2 and -1/2). So find the slope of the given line (by counting boxes), find its negative reciprocal, and then you can just find the coordinates of the given point. You'll want to use something called point-slope form, which looks like\[y-y_1=m(x-x_1)\]With m as the slope, and (x_1,y_1) a point which the line passes through. Then you can just manipulate that equation to get to slope-intercept form.
