There is a ship which flows in the x direction it has a considerable hole across its hull in the y direction what will the direction of the movement of ship be due to the water that goes in:A tipical answer could be like this: we know that F(ext) = {V(rel)}dM/dT –{M}dV/dT .....1 .So F(ext) due to water on the ships base is equal to {V(rel)}dM/dT......2 now as dM/dT is positive and {V(rel)} is negative wrt ship,the force is neg and hence instantaneous direction of motion.but in reality nthat is not the case.Why? note 1 can be proved&2 as the {M}dV/dT is 0.
