The perimeter of a regular triangle, regular pentagon , regular hexagon, and regular octagon are respectively equal to 57 cm , 70 cm, 105 cm and 112 cm . which figure have sides w/ the longest measure?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

begin wid calculating length of side for each figure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How ? O.o

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

Use this : perimater = total length around the figure

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

il show yu how to compute length of side for triangle : for a regular triangle of side s, perimeter = s+s+s = 3s =:> 3s = 57 s = ?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

does that help/make sense @XxSecnirpxX

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh Thanks ! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but what is the one with the longest measure? O.o

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

like we calculated the side of triangle, you need to calculate sides of each polygon once you have side lengths, you can compare them... good luck :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks! now i get it! ^_^

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

see if this makes sense : side of triangle = perimeter/n = 57/3 = \(\textbf{19}\) side of pentagan = perimeter/n = 70/5 = \(\textbf{14}\) side of hexagan = perimeter/n = 105/6 = \(\textbf{17.xx}\) side of octagan = perimeter/n = 112/8 = \(\textbf{14}\)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

you can see it nw which side is longest.. .
