what is the explanation when a balloon inflates when place over the mouth of a bottle on a hot plate? please help! it's for my experiment that is due tomorrow. thankyou!

The hot plate is heating the bottle and the air in the bottle is expanding because of that heat therefor moving into the balloon and making it expand. Convection is the term you are most likely going to have to use in your report.

as the hot plate heats up the bottle the air inside the bottle also heats up.. this air in the bottle moves quickly into the baloon as it continue to heat up the air expands to some extent hence the balloon expands as well
