Evaluate: –8 · 3 Making sure I am doing this right. How would you guys do it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well it would be -24

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-24

OpenStudy (kymber):

A negative number times a positive number is a negative number.

OpenStudy (compassionate):

- x + = - + x - = - + x + = + - x - = +

I needed help. Okay. Thank you guys but Thank you Kymber for explaining. I forgot that. But now I get it :)

OpenStudy (kymber):

:D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

=]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What about the one's in parenthesis, does that happen the same way? You just do the right thing by doing what's in parentheses times what ever first?

OpenStudy (kymber):

If it's like -8(3) then the parenthesis just mean multiply

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay. What about 9/-3 ?

OpenStudy (kymber):

That's dividing. A positive number divided by negative number would be negative.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I tried that. It didn't get the right answer. It like a fraction.

OpenStudy (kymber):

You got -3? I guess you could also simplify it.. but that would also be -3|dw:1345561701179:dw|
