Patterns- in the 4x6 rectangle the diagonal from a to b cuts throught the interior of 8 squares. given a rectangle of integer dimensions x by y the diagonal will cut through the interior of N squares. can you find a general formula for N in terms x and y? fill in the table below and continue experimenting to determine a general formula. the rectangle deminsions i have are 4x6,2x3,6x9,8x12,1x1,2x2,3x3,4x4,10x14,5x7,15x21
