The vertices of pentagon LMPQR are at L(4, -2), M(5, -2), P(8, -5), Q(6, -7), R(2, -4). The coordinates of the pentagon after two translations are L'(-5, -1), M'(-4, -1), P'(-1, -4), Q'(-3, -6), R'(-7, -3).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How was LMPQR translated to create L'M'P'Q'R'? To the left by 9 units and 1 unit up To the left by 1 unit and 9 units up To the right by 9 units and 1 unit up To the right by 1 unit and 9 units up

I NEED HELP !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

PLEASE

OpenStudy (anonymous):

THANK YOU SO MUCH

OpenStudy (phi):

look at point L (4,-2) and compare it to L' (-5,-1) plot them. which way do you move to get from L to L' left or right. how far? to get from L to L' do you go up or down? how much?

OpenStudy (phi):

the first number in (4,-2) ( the 4) is the x coordinate, it tells you left or right of the y-axis.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well i dont know really know

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what is the outcome if i do that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i wont be able to use a graph

OpenStudy (phi):

if you are at (4,-2) and you move 1 to the right, you end up at (5,-2) if you are at (4,-2) and move 1 to the left you end up at (3,-2) if you are at (4,-2) which direction do you move to get to (-5, -2)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would it be (-3,-6)

OpenStudy (phi):

if you are at (4,-2) which direction do you move to get to (-5, -2)?

OpenStudy (phi):

you have 2 choices: right (makes the 4 bigger) or left (makes the 4 smaller)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh i thought you would get lesser each time

OpenStudy (phi):

if you are at (4,-2) which direction do you move to get to (-5, -2)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you will have to move 4

OpenStudy (phi):

which direction?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh to the left
