Is this right? Off my teacher's answer key we use to check our answers, not sure where she's getting the 14

Here's what I did: Combine like terms: -3|6n-8| = -107 Add 3 to both sdies: |6n-8| = -104 What am I doing wrong here?

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

5 - 8|6n-8| = -107 5 = -107 + 8|6n-8| (add 8|6n-8| to both sides) 5 + 107 = 8|6n-8| (add 107 to both sides) 112 = 8|6n-8| can you work out the rest?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, but where did she get 6n-8 = 14

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

what would you get if you divided both sides by 8 (on my last equation up there)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohhh okay. Thanks!

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

:) yw
