Why does 5+2(-35.5) = -68?

= 5 + -71
= -66

My calculator is the one that came up with -68. Is it -66 instead? Thanks so much. :) And I do, I was just absolutely confused by this one, not sure why

first multiply always then subtract, but here we have parenthesis so that should be fine
