Predict the consequences of changes to the atmosphere, solid earth, oceans, and living things.

OpenStudy (geometry_hater):

What about the atmosphere are we changing?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm guessing it's the things we are emmiting into the atmosphere.

OpenStudy (geometry_hater):

Well if you talking about emissions then we are making the atmosphere more dense and that means we are making the planet warmer (Due to the greenhouse effect) so just think what would happen to everything if the average temperature went up.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Additonally the solid earth would shrink with a warming atmosphere, oceans would grow (more water due to melting glaciers) causing less available land mass, and death to animals that thrive in colder temps or are not adapted to live in extremely warm temperatures. But we are not really talking about a much denser atmosphere. We are talking about a depleting ozone as well in which our protection from harmful UV rays cause higher fatality rates in all species including autotophs, an obvious staple in the circle of life.
