1.Write the equation of the line which passes through (5, –2) and is parallel to x = 4. (1 point) 2.Write the equation of the line which passes through (2, 1) and is perpendicular to x = –2.

OpenStudy (noelgreco):

Who gets the 1 point if you're given the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats just what my homework says cause i do online school

OpenStudy (noelgreco):

OK. What does the graph of x = 4 look like?

OpenStudy (noelgreco):

Horizontal line, vertical line, or slopy line?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no graph it was just the question but my teacher said the x=4 is vertical

OpenStudy (noelgreco):

OK, but graphing helps you see it. x = 4 is a vertical line because x is ALWAYS equal to 4, it doesn't make any difference what y is equal to. so the points (4,1), (4, 67) (4, -123456) are all on the line x = 4. OK?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok is it x=5

OpenStudy (noelgreco):

Excellent !

OpenStudy (noelgreco):

Have you done any graphing on the x-y plane at all?
