You are given an equation of a line and a point. Use substitution to determine whether the point is on the line. y=x+4;A(3,7) How do i know if it one the line if i don't have any graphs?

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

the point A(3,7) has coordinate of: x=3, y=7

OpenStudy (precal):

just sub your x and y value

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

do these coordinates satisfy the equation: y = x + 4 ?

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

if they do, then the point lies on that line

OpenStudy (precal):

|dw:1345596208971:dw| is this statement true, if it is then that point is on the line later on you will learn to graph your lines and then you will be able to find many other points on the line
