The original design for the city of Savannah, Georgia, was based on a gridlike system of wards. At one time the city included a total of 24 wards. Each ward was approximately square, and together the wards covered a total area of about 8,640,000 square feet. Find the approximate dimensions of a ward.

OpenStudy (baldymcgee6):

If the total area is 8 640 000 ft^2, divided among 24 wards, then simply divide the total area by the number of wards

OpenStudy (alexwee123):

(8,640,000/24)^1/2 there are 24 wards so you divide then you take the square root because the area of a square is lxw where l=w

OpenStudy (alexwee123):

@baldymcgee6 you take the square root not divide :)

OpenStudy (baldymcgee6):

ahh right.. lol, silly me
