A manager is forming a 6 person team to work on a certain project. From the 11 candidates available for the team, the manager has already chosen 3 to be the team. In selecting the other 3 team members, how many different combinations of 3 of the remaining candidates does the manager have to choose from? 6 24 56 120 462
ok since the manager already decided 3 people that leaves only 8 people he can choose from if you want to think about it in terms of order his first choice he can pick out of 8 his 2nd choice he can only pick out of 7 etc. so 8*7*...
because 3 people are already chosen then there would be 8 people left and because order doesn't matter your answer would be 8C3 or 56
I just checked the book, you are correct. 56 is right!!
