use linear programming: a student advisory board at your achool must consist of 7 to 10 representatives from junior and senior classes. The board must include at least 3 juniors and 3 seniors. Graph the feasible region and solve for the numbers of juniors and seniors on the board.

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

so the variables are J and S which are the number of juniors and seniors on the board total must be between 7 and 10 --> 7 <= J+S <=10 at least 3 juniors --> J >= 3 at least 3 seniors --> S >= 3 Now graph these restraints: J >= 7 - S J <= 10 -S J >= 3 S >= 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did you get: J >= 7 - S J <= 10 -S..?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

oh sorry ...from the inequality 7 <= J+S <= 10 i split it into 2 inequalities and then solved for J , that way you can graph the 2 lines
