PEMDAS stands for Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally. Parenthesis - Exponents - Multiplication - Divide - Add - Subtract. Do each step at a time. Is there anything in the equation that's in parenthesis? No? Next step. Use the power of 2 (exponents). 5 x 5 = ? Now, multiply the product of 5^2 by 4. Add the resulting product to 7. The sum of that is your answer.
