OpenStudy (anonymous):

A graduated cylinder has 35.0ml of water in it before an object is dropped inside. The new volume is 38.5ml. What is the volume of the object in cm3

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

apply water displacement method final volume - inital volume = volume of the object so 38.5 - 35.0 = 3.5 mL however it's asking for cm^3 1 mL is just 1 cm^3 so 3.5 mL is also 3.5 cm^3 does that help @asheanapyt ?
