What is the measure of an angle if it is double its complement?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

let y be that angle... so its complement is 90 - y if it's double 90 - y then the value would be 2(90 - y) = 180 - 2y so 180 - 2y + 90 - y should equal 90 because they are complements 180 - 2y + 90 - y = 90 combine like terms 270 - 3y = 90 subtract 90 from both sides 180 - 3y = 0 add 3y to both sides 180 = 3y divide both sides by 3 180/3 = y simplify 60 = y does that help?
