The sum of the squares of 3 consecutive positive integers is 116. What are the numbers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can look at it like this: x+y+z=116 but there is another way. can you think of it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

seeing as the three integers are consecutive would that not mean that they could be expressed as x+(1+x)+(2+x)?
