If a small transformer 240 volts primary 12v, 100ma secondary is left plugged into mains with the secondary open circuit, what current will flow in the primary circuit?

If the secondary of the transformer is open and the primary is energized, almost no current will actually flow through the transformer. The only current that will flow will be negligible and due to copper losses.
