jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

When you factor the numerator, you get 8 - 2x = -2(x - 4)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

When you factor the denominator, you get 3x - 12 = 3(x-4)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

See anything cancelling?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The 3 and maybe the four can simplify with the 12.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

notice we have a 'x-4' appearing twice (once in the numerator and once in the denominator)
