is the hunger games it self a reality show?

That's a bit of a philosophical question. Our "reality shows" are still somewhat scripted, they follow a plot line and are watched. They never involved unsupervised minors. So in modern american/brit terms, no it is NOT a reality show.

However, it is a contrived tournament for entertainment. You could call it a relaity show as much as you could call a dogfight a relaity show.

Since the hunger games do not involve real actors in the fights, and what they are doing is really unscripted, then by the formal definition of "reality shows", the hunger games *is* a reality show.

it PRESENTS purportedly unscripted....it didn't quite say that it IS unscripted, only that the presentation must be.

lgbasallote--the crux of the problem lies in the scripting though, again, think of footbal or dog fighting. No one calls a sport game a "reality show" and it's much more like hunger games
