what indicates species richness

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Species richness is the number of a particular species in a sample or given area. Basically just a headcount. There are 40 birds in this habitat for example.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Species richness is the number of different species represented in a set or collection of individuals. Species richness is simply a count of species, and it does not take into account the abundances of the species or their relative abundance distributions. In contrast, species diversity takes into account both species richness and species evenness.
