I JUST WANT SOMEONE TO CHECK MY ANSWERS SO I CAN BE SURE THAY ARE RIGHT. 9. Which word is modified by the adjective in the sentence below? Steve works faithfully at his job; he has never missed a single day. missed >>>works<<< never day 10. Which word is modified by the adjective in the sentence below? Three groups of students are going to her show. show >>>Three<<< students groups
number 9 is wrong... an adjective modifies a noun/pronoun, however, what you chose was a verb
as for number 10, three is also wrong. Again, what an adjective describes is a noun/pronoun. However, "Three" is an adverb. It is an adverb because it describes the adjective "groups". And groups is an adjective because it describes a noun. So the answer to #10 is the noun that "groups" modifies
does that help?
@babedoll78 are you there?
First of all, @lgbasallote is right about the fact that an adjective describes a noun. In 9 there is an adverb in the sentence, faithfully, but there is also an adjective, single. Faithfully describes the VERB works and single describes the NOUN _______. And yes, in 10 three is in fact an adverb. Most people think that adverbs only describe verbs; 'he ran QUICKLY', but and adverb can also describe an adjective; 'the BRILLIANTLY colored feather in his cap caught my eye.' The adjective COLORED describes FEATHER and the adverb BRILLIANTLY describes COLORED. Good job @lgbasallote!
