well according to economy i would suggest to use diesel ..because it is cheaper :) and as far as its impact on environment is concerned the emission of nitrogen is around 2% in both the cases....so go for diesel :)

Both are hydrocarbons..

The longer and better the chain will be better fuel

petrol is more inflammable than diesel but its more costly than diesel
diesel engines are more efficient than petrol engine but its life is less
fuel is better as per how much useful it is rather than how much calories per unit it holds. . .

@theyatin higher the calorific value , better is the fuel...how could you say, it doesn't matter how much calories it contain. if it is so why we prefer hydrogen for rockets than petrol , there are many other reasons though. Also, whole petrochemical chemical industry is focused on research of increasing octane value and calorie content of fuel

you can not use hydrogen for your scooter dear that's my point. . .
the fuel should be easily available easily store able. . .
which can be used in more efficient engines. . .
that can be easily carried from here to there. . .
it must have minimum pollution after com-busted. . .
hydrogen does not satisfy any of this as it has million times calorific value than patrol. . .
you can increase calorific value of some existing fuel but this is not the only thing that makes a fuel best. . .

well my point was to clarify ...higher calorific value should be kept in mind too..it should not be discarded....and people are conducting research to use this for scooter of car..and one day they will make it...(hydrogen fuel)...
