Can someone help me with these few problems please!! I would greatly appreciate it! 1.) – 2 ≤ 2x – 4 < 4 2.) 2 r – 8 + 5 r = 10 + r 3.) I will attach this one in the comments.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[T=\frac{ 3U }{ E } solve for U\]

hartnn (hartnn):

the 1st one is to find the range of x,right? lets begin with 2x-4<4 to isolate x,how would u keep only 2x on left side?

hartnn (hartnn):

do u know how would u isolate x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well for the 1st problem, there are no instructions but I can show you what my answer options are? Ill attach a file of them. It might help better bc I'm lost on how to do them:\

hartnn (hartnn):

let me do it 4 u : we have 2x-4<4 now to get only 2x on left i need to remove -4....how would i do that? by adding 4 to it because -4+4=0 but then i would add 4 on right side also to balance the equation so i have 2x-4+4<4+4 2x<8 now to get only x,i would divide by 2,like this: 2x/2<8/2 so,x<4 u got this much ??

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

@hartnn if i were you i;d solve it simultaneously....

hartnn (hartnn):

if i were i ,i would solve it orally, graph it by imagination only.... :P

hartnn (hartnn):

u getting what i have done @BarrelRacer_23

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes I understand that, but now what I dont understand is why in my answer options they have like \[1\le x <4\]

hartnn (hartnn):

because,there is also – 2 ≤ 2x – 4 that u need to solve... – 2 ≤ 2x – 4 so 2x>=-2+4 so 2x>=2 so x>=1 which is on left side

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh I see...

hartnn (hartnn):

now will u try 2nd question by yourself?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I will try it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Would I combine 2r+5r+the r one the other side then combine -8+10?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or am i totally not on the right track?

hartnn (hartnn):

to combine first u need to bring like terms on same side of = sign...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh so it would be 7r

hartnn (hartnn):

yes,and to bring r from right side to left side ,u subtract r from both sides like this : 7r-r=10+8 note that i have also added 8 on both sides did u get this ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and thats done to cancel out the -8 on the left side right?

hartnn (hartnn):

yes,so that -8+8=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so do i do that before i subtract r from both sides or after?

hartnn (hartnn):

that does not matter, in any case u get this 7r-r=10+8 which is 6r=18 from this can u find r?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

r=3

hartnn (hartnn):

very good,u got it :) r=3 is correct now i believe u can do 3rd on your own...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you lol!:) On the 3rd one I know that you have to undo what has been done to the problem but I only have one number?

hartnn (hartnn):

so what? to isolate U u multiply by E and divide by 3 and see what u get

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But I dont understand... how can you multiply by a letter?

hartnn (hartnn):

like this :|dw:1345821633356:dw|
