What is chemotaxis?

Directed movement toward or away from a chemical stimulus (i.e. a relatively high concentration of some particular chemical). Positive chemotaxis would be movement toward the stimulus, and negative chemotaxis would be away.

It might help if you think about sperm cells. They all converge on the egg, right? But they can't see it: instead, they detect special chemicals that the egg is putting out and move to where the concentration is highest. That's chemotaxis.
