Andrew has a cell phone plan that provides 300 free minutes each month for a flat rate of $19. For any minutes over 300, Andrew is charged $0.39 per minute. Which of the following piecewise functions represents charges based on Andrew's cell phone plan? (will post answer choices in a bit!) Please explain because i am confused... :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A, B, C, D... in order they appear!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do u think?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I feel like it might be answer C but I am not sure and i need an explanation cuz i am super confused!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ya ......thats the correct answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because if he talks less than or equal to 300 minutes than it will cost $19

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i think so.... that's what i thought but i got really confused... so the attached one is the answer yes?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 100% sure that is the answer??!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now, if he talks more than 300 minutes than he is charged $0.39 per extra minute

OpenStudy (anonymous):

did u take precal/trig before or something? And so my answer C is correct??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, if x>300 than f(x)=19+(x-300)*0.39

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thus the answer is C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

got it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cool! thanks!! :) @sauravshakya
