Please help Kevin and Conner tracked their exercise last week. Kevin ran 8 laps around the school track, 6 laps around his neighborhood, and 7 miles on the treadmill. Conner ran 4 laps around the school track and nineteen miles on the treadmill. Write and simplify an expression for the total combined distance that Kevin and Conner ran. Show your work. Use t for the distance in laps around their school track and n for the distance in laps around Kevin’s neighborhood.

OpenStudy (allank):

Taking t to be the distance of one lap, and n to be the distance around a neighborhood, Kevin: 8t+6n+7 Conner: 4t+19n Now add the distances for Kevin and Conner.

So Kevin has 21 and Conner 23?

OpenStudy (allank):

Not quite. Remember that we do not know the value of t nor n. So our answer must have unknowns. Try again.

OpenStudy (allank):

Hint: (8t+6n+7)+(4t+19n)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

44?

OpenStudy (allank):

Not quite. (8t+6n+7)+(4t+19n)=12t+25n+7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

12t+25+7. so the answer would be 44t?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or 44tn?
