Which of the following is not a proportion? 4/5 or 8/10 18/6 or 12/4 6/16 or 3/8 27/9 or 22/4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hint: They are proportion if they have the same ratios lets use the first example, 4/5 or 8/10 I know this is proportion because 4 x 2 = 8 5 x 10 = 10 to get 8/10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thxs

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no problem, can you figure out the answer now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it narrows it down for me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

tell me when you figure out the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok my answer is 18/6 &12/4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope, that is not correct because 18/6 = 3 and 12/4 = 3 so they both have the same ratio of three.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Omg ! okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now, tell me which one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The answer is 4/5 & 8/10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nono.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, this is probably the best way for you to understand. Grab a calculator and type in 4/5 and 8/10 they will have the same value of 0.8 and therefore they are proportionate.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and can you see that 8/10 simplified is 4/5, so they must have the same value and therefore are proportionate.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You don't really need a calculator for this question, but it will assist you in your understanding and be much faster to achieving the answer, if you are allowed to use the calculator for this question.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay that helps so the answer is 27/9 & 22/4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep, that is correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thank you, you have been so helpful

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no problem, as long as you understand it and you learnt something.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

& ive learnrd alot
