To read the novel first you gotta have interest in it, then its probably like a reading a long story just make sure you read it with your full interest :)

You start with an idea. Then you develop a main plot and subplots to make the story interesting. Elaborate on the idea. Don't forget to proofread your work.

You pick a topic that holds value to you. Then you write, and don't stop. It doesn't matter if you don't make sense, or spelling, or anything. Express yourself. Then pic pieces out of what you wrote, and clearly expand on them with extreme attention to detail. Soon you will have a storyline and characters, and after that, a book! :D
