if f(x)={(3,5),(2,4),(1,7)}, find f^-1(x)

OpenStudy (waleed_imtiaz):

I think U are asking about the inverse... So in the inverse of any function...... The elements in the ordered pairs are interchanged, domain changes to range and range changes to domain,,,,,,,

Parth (parthkohli):

In the inverse, the \(\textbf{domain}\) becomes the \(\textbf{range}\), and the \(\textbf{range}\) becomes the \(\textbf{domain}\).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you simplify it?

Parth (parthkohli):

To give you an example:\[f(x) = \{(1,2), (3,4) \} \implies f^{-1}(x) = \{(2,1), (4,3) \} \]

Parth (parthkohli):

Does that example help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah. thank you
