Which of these is a correct step in constructing congruent line segments? use a straightedge to draw two equal arcs from the end points use a compass to join the end points of the line segment use a straightedge to measure the length of the line segment use a compass to create the distance between the end points

@hoblos

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think its c

OpenStudy (hoblos):

yeah it's c ... you measure the length of the segment and draw the other with the same length

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yay thanks

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Straightedges do NOT have markings on them like rulers do. So how can you measure anything with a straightedge?

OpenStudy (hoblos):

ah really! i though they mean a ruler by 'Straightedges' !! sorry my english is not that good ! :$

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you would actually use a compass to measure any and all distances

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

even if it has markings, you are "not supposed to directly measure" in euclid's constructions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so is not c?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

you can strike off all options that have measure in them

OpenStudy (hoblos):

no it's not.. sorry! as @jim_thompson5910 said.. it's d

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay
