3x+2 over 15x^2+16x+4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to this and your other problem you have to factorize every term of your fractions then cancel common factors

can you walk me through so i can do the next one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok the numerator is just 3x+2 which can't be factorized now looking at the denominator we see its a quadratic trinomial 15x^2+16x+4 to factorize it : multiply 15 and 4 which gives 60 now look for 2 numbers whose product is 60 and whose sum is the middle term 16 these are 10 and 6 now rewrite the expression as 15x^2+10x+6x+4 now factor each 2 terms alone: 5x(3x+2)+2(3x+2) which gives (3x+2)(5x+2)
